Draymond Green may have only played four seasons with the Michigan State Spartans, but his influence remains with the team to this day.
As Ricky O’Donell of SB Nation reports, Green has helped the Spartans have their best recruiting class ever. Green has gone all out to help coach Tom Izzo sign four top-50 players, whether it’s donating more than $3 million to his alma matter for a new weight room, or starting a group text with current Spartan players, Green has become a key weapon in recruiting for the team.
The best example of Green’s effort is the recruitment of the now-signed All-American Miles Bridges. Green reportedly FacedTime Bridges from the Warriors locker room with league MVP Steph Curry after winning the NBA Championship. How special do you think Bridges felt after that?

“No one really has done what Draymond has done coming out of Michigan State,” Bridges told SB Nation. “He’s created a path for the Michigan State Spartans.”
Izzo told SB Nation Green has offered guidance to the new recruits – while obviously pushing them towards the Sparty’s at the same time.
Green isn’t done, as he’s set his sights on recruiting star small forward Josh Jackson – one of the top-ranked recruits in the country. According to SB Nation he’s kept in contact with Green as he makes his decision. Jackson admitted the two are close.
“I’ve known Draymond for a while,” Jackson said. “He feels like his experience at Michigan State was a pretty great one. Since we’re so close, he wants me to have the same experience he had.”
Green’s no-quit attitude is clearly his mentality both on and off the court. The Spartans should thank their lucky stars Green is in their corner because his influence as an NBA talent and former Spartan is clearly paying off.
