Wednesday was College Football Signing Day and players across the country signed their National Letters of Intent to play at various football programs.

Some players teased schools while wearing the wrong shirt and some players conversely were screwed by programs who didn’t have room for them.

On Thursday, a new story emerged of another great unveiling: a University of Maryland recruit flipped to the University of Central Florida after a great video in which he said he was going to be a Terp.

For one, that video is awesome. But wait, I thought he was committing to UCF…?

Oh okay – if UCF head coach Scott Frost says Richardson is committing to UCF, that’s pretty darn official. So what exactly happened?

For starters, the running back originally committed to Clemson and then considered UCF, Ole Miss, and Rutgers.

(Side note, Clemson won the title last season while Rutgers went 2-10, so Richardson really was looking at every school on the spectrum.)

Anyway, via UCFSports.com, Richardson claims he shot the video without UCF in there, and that whoever edited it put Maryland as his choice (with a little bit of his help).

“Recruiting is stressful,” Richardson said. “That video was done a while ago. They asked me to pick my top five schools … and they edited it.

“I knew it was Maryland two days ago … but I just kind of wanted to surprise everybody. I didn’t sleep very much (Tuesday night) though. I got to bed pretty late.”

So I guess Richardson simply chose Maryland and then flipped at the last minute, but only after the video went out? That’s unfortunate and awkward.

Well at the end of the day, Richardson is going to UCF and we hope he made the right decision. We also hope there’s no awkwardness when UCF visits Maryland on September 23rd, 2017.
