During Thursday night’s wild game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Purdue Boilermakers, Purdue wide receiver Chris Jefferson made a massive highlight play when he picked off a Sean Clifford pass and brought it back 72 yards for a touchdown the other direction.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Jefferson caught Clifford’s overthrown pass, weaved through Penn State players, and followed his blocks on the way to the end zone to put his team on top.
It was an undeniably impressive play, but Jefferson’s pick-six wasn’t what got the college football world talking. It was what happened afterward.
Once Jefferson got to the sideline following the big play, he was clearly exhausted after the long interception return. The Purdue defensive back hunched over while trying to catch his breath and eventually, he couldn’t hold it back anymore. Jefferson threw up right on the sideline – and the television camera captured everything.
Naturally, the college football world had plenty to say about the defensive back’s vomiting incident, with many making jokes at the expense of Nebraska head coach Scott Frost, who recently bragged about how much his players threw up at practice.
Despite Jefferson leaving it all on the field – literally – Purdue still fell to Penn State 35-31.
