With a bevy of MLB stars and two College World Series championships over the last decade, Vanderbilt has emerged as one of college baseball’s top programs.
Nobody in the history of that program has done what Parker Noland did in Friday’s game against Mississippi State.
At 3-f0r-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored, Noland was already having a big day for the Commodores when he came to the plate with the bases loaded in the sixth inning. The day got even bigger when he took a 2-2 pitch and drove it to the opposite field, over the left field wall for a grand slam.
He was not done.
One inning later, Noland again came to the plate with the bases loaded. Once again, he drove the ball to left field. And once again, the ball sailed over the wall for a grand slam.
Noland finished the day 5-for-6 with two home runs, three runs scored and 11 RBI. The 11 RBI is a program record.

Noland’s performance was part of a huge day for Vanderbilt. The Commodores defeated Mississippi State 26-3 in a game that, unsurprisingly, was called after 7 innings.
