The Golden State Warriors are reportedly considering discipline for Draymond Green after the veteran forward reportedly struck teammate Jordan Poole in an altercation at practice.
The Athletic reported Wednesday night that the two teammates had a “heated interaction” that led to Green “forcefully” striking Poole.
The two reportedly had a disagreement and went face-to-face to argue before Green struck Poole. The team did not report injuries to either player.
The Warriors ended practice immediately after the altercation.
Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports and TNT reported that Green was apologetic about the incident, “but there was a buildup stemming from teammates noticing a change in Poole’s behavior throughout camp with the guard on the verge of securing a lucrative extension.”
It’s not clear what punishment Green might face, but the Warriors have not been shy about disciplining the star in the past. In 2018, he was suspended one game for conduct detrimental to the team for calling then-teammate Kevin Durant a b**** during a game. He’s also collected a bevy of fines and suspensions from the NBA for various acts.
Twitter wasted no time responding to reports of the incident.
“Beating up Jordan Poole now,” tweeted Zito.

Coming off an NBA championship last season, this is not a great way for the Warriors to get things rolling in the new season. Then again, how many times have we seen a coach address similar practice scuffles with talk about how much they respect players showing passion on the field, etc.
