DeMar DeRozan had already earned the nickname “King of the Fourth” in the Chicago Bulls’ world for his incredible fourth-quarter production this season, and he’s taken things to another level with the heroics over the last two days.
On Friday, DeRozan made an amazing buzzer-beating three to give the Bulls a 108-106 road victory over the Indiana Pacers.
And on Saturday, the Bulls trailed when DeRozan once again made a buzzer-beating three for the win.
DeRozan made a buzzer-beating corner three to take down the Washington Wizards 120-119 in DC.
Nobody uses the pump-fake better than DeRozan, and he got the Washington defense in the air to open up that shooting lane.
DeRozan entered Friday with one career game-winning buzzer-beater, which he did with the Toronto Raptors in 2013. Well, he’s now made them in consecutive days (and via the three-point shot both times).
How rare is it to make buzzer-beaters in back-to-back days? It had literally never happened in NBA history, according to
Basketball Reference.
Amazing.
DeRozan has played at an MVP level after signing a three-year, $85 million deal with the Bulls over the offseason. He’d actually struggled with his shot for most of Friday and Saturday’s games, but he came through when it mattered late as he usually does. And while he’s known for his mid-range prowess, he entered Saturday shooting a career-best 36.4% on three-pointers this season.
Oh, and the win gives the Bulls (24-10) a one-game lead for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
