The Los Angeles Clippers currently find themselves in the midst of the Western Conference playoff hunt. A big part of that is because head coach Tyronn Lue led them through some rough patches early in the season.
Lue recently shared some revelations about what was happening in his personal life at the same time that put the Clippers’ on-court struggles in context.
The Los Angeles coach recently appeared on The Pivot where he shared the horrible news that he had lost seven family members since December but wasn’t able to attend any of their funerals because the team was struggling.
“It don’t hurt to be a good person. We all have bad days, but you can always be a good person,” said Lue. “Seven family members since December and I ain’t go to one funeral because we lost five games in a row. I can take the easy way out. Say I can go home for a week or whatever. I just felt like I couldn’t do that.”
Lue shared that it’s a brutal reality for people in his position, that they have to weigh the needs of the team he’s coaching against tragedy in his personal life. Not everyone might have made the same choices he made, but the Clippers coach is clearly committed to his players and trying to win a championship.
