On Friday night, Ja Morant came very close to having one of the greatest dunks in basketball history.
The Memphis Grizzlies’ rookie guard tried to throw down an absolutely absurd dunk over Kevin Love. When we say “over” Kevin Love, we mean Morant — 6’3″ — literally (almost) jumped over Kevin Love — 6’10” — and tried to throw down the dunk with ridiculous elevation and extension.
Morant was unable to complete the dunk, but it was still an unbelievable effort that he almost converted.
After the game, Love tweeted that Morant “almost ended [his] professional career” with the dunk try.
This dunk attempt comes just a week after Morant threw down an incredible poster dunk in the final minute of a Memphis win over the Phoenix Suns. The Murray State product is a remarkable athlete and basketball talent, and will be a joy to watch in the NBA for a long time.
