Ron Harper has an NBA career that most NBA Draft prospects could only dream of, playing 15 years in the league for four different teams over the course of his career. But shockingly, his son, Dylan Harper, is set to supplant him in one specific category once his NBA career comes to an end.
Dylan Harper saw his dreams of starring in the NBA come true on Wednesday night, being selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
Harper certainly profiles to be an incredibly dynamic player who could very well ultimately have a better career than his father. But regardless of whether or not that happens, he will have earned more money than his father did in the NBA by the time his rookie contract comes to an end.
Dylan Harper is set to earn $56 million throughout his rookie contract. Meanwhile, Ron Harper earned just $35 million over the course of his career, which, for his time, was a good amount of money.

If all goes to plan for Dylan Harper, he will likely earn far more than just the $56 million his rookie deal is worth. But either way, he can at least always say that he surpassed his father in contract value from the very start of his NBA career.
