Many around the NBA world have been curiously waiting for the San Antonio Spurs to reveal when the debut of No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama will be. They revealed their plan, and it seems like his debut will come against No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets.
Wembanyama has been largely heralded as the best NBA prospect to enter the league since LeBron James, with supreme athleticism and skill while standing at over 7’3.
He missed the Spurs opening Summer League game against the Hornets on Monday night, but it sounds like his debut will come against Charlotte on Friday night.
“The Spurs’ current plan is indeed for Victor Wembanyama to make his San Antonio debut Friday night in Las Vegas against Charlotte,” tweeted NBA insider Marc Stein.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Wembanyama’s game translates to the NBA level, and fans’ first glimpse of him will be against Hornets standout rookie Brandon Miller.
The NBA world took to social media to express their excitement about the matchup later this week.
NBA fans have only seen him play against the 2nd and 3rd overall picks. That’s a pretty cool start https://t.co/71b4NHjjus

If Wenbanyama’s debut goes anything like the first Summer League game between the Spurs and Hornets, San Antonio fans will likely be thrilled. The Spurs impressively cruised to an impressive 98-77 win over the Hornets on Monday night.
