It’s been two weeks since the Los Angeles Lakers fired head coach Davin Ham but the rumor mill has been running wild about his replacement.
ESPN NBA analyst JJ Redick appears to be at the top of the list while Sam Cassell and James Borrego have also been mentioned as possibilities.
FS1’s Paul Pierce thinks that former Boston Celtics teammate Rajon Rondo would be the ideal candidate.
“If you going to talk about JJ Redick, I’d rather have Rajon Rondo,” Pierce said. “I know LeBron respects Rajon on that same level of basketball IQ and I’ve heard him say that. ”

Pierce made a good case for Rondo, saying that he had won a championship with LeBron and he would command respect in the locker room.
Skip Bayless also pointed out that he can tell LeBron James “No.”
Pierce also said that Rondo has aspirations to be a head coach and he thinks if the Lakers are going to get an inexperienced head coach, they should go with Rondo.
JJ Redick’s name keeps coming up, in part because of his close relationship with LeBron James, but his inexperience may not serve him well in this situation, especially if the Lakers want to make a championship run before LeBron retires.
