The Indiana Pacers got a go-ahead three from Malcolm Brogdon with 2.8 seconds remaining in overtime to beat the Orlando Magic 120-118 in a thriller on Friday night.
In what was a consistently back-and-forth game (fittingly going to overtime), Orlando led 118-117 in the final seconds of overtime, when Doug McDermott found Brogdon for what would serve as the game-winning three.
Brogdon led the Pacers with 23 points, and capped it off in cold-blooded fashion. Indiana also got 22-point performances from Myles Turner and Jeremy Lamb, and 18 points from Domantas Sabonis.
The Pacers traded Victor Oladipo (as part of the James Harden four-team deal) last week in exchange for Caris LeVert. And now LeVert is out indefinitely after an MRI — taken during his physical for the trade — revealed that he has a small mass on his left kidney.
So, the Pacers will need Brogdon, Sabonis, Turner, Lamb, and company to really step it up in the coming weeks/months. Those players did just that on Friday night, improving Indiana’s record to 9-6 (which has them tied for second in the Eastern Conference).
