The Los Angeles Kajkers are gearing up for thier first round playoff series against the Houston Rockets. Unfortunately for the Lakers and star forward LeBron James, they’ll open the series without the services of star guards Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
The injuries may lead to an increased role for James’s son, Bronny, who is a point guard on the Lakers roster. Regardless of how things might go for the younger James on the floor against Houston, he’s gotten some brutal news off it.
Nike’s application for a trademark for Bronny’s “B9” logo has been denied, per ESPN.
“The USPTO turned down the application because examining attorney P. Scott Craven deemed the logo too similar to the ‘B9’ logo created by Back9 Golf Apparel, a company out of Austin, Texas. Both ‘B9’ markings were filed for clothing and apparel usages.”
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Jordan said this is wrong with the new Gen. Worried about branding before their game. No one is wearing bronny stuff,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Even Bronny James gotta deal with defenders off the court too… trademark game got real defense,” someone else added.
“What has Bronny done in the league to deserve a logo,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Nike files an appeal to the initial ruling in the 30-day window it has to do so.
