When the Milwaukee Bucks fired first-year head coach Adrian Griffin after just 43 games as head coach, everyone wondered what their plan was.
The plan ended up being to hire Doc Rivers, most recently the head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, away from his ESPN job.
The Bucks wound up doing just that, but so far the results haven’t been there. After Thursday’s 113-110 loss to the lowly Memphis Grizzlies, the Bucks fell to 3-7 under Rivers.
After the game, Rivers took a bit of a jab at his players. “We had some guys here, some guys in Cabo,” he said.
There’s still time for Rivers to turn it around, but the early returns are very concerning. It seemed like a strange idea from the start, and so far it’s proven to be just that.
Social media had a lot to say about Rivers after the game.
One fan saw it coming the whole way, saying, “The cool thing about the Bucks hiring Doc Rivers is that we all thought ‘this is going to be hilarious’ and then it was. Like immediately funny.”
Another didn’t understand the decision, saying “Why would you even hire Doc Rivers as head coach if you’re trying to win a damn chip? It’s the height of stupidity”

A 76ers fan is thankful that Rivers no longer coaches their team, saying, “I love Doc Rivers now that he doesn’t coach my team. Incredible stuff happening in MIL.”

It’s not all bad for Rivers though. He’ll be in Indiana to coach the Eastern Conference All-Stars this weekend.
“Doc Rivers coaching the all-star team with a 3-7 record is an incredible achievement” one fan posted.
