Things continue to just get worse for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 114-102 on Wednesday night at Staples Center, and they lost LeBron James to an injury in the process.
James walked slowly to the locker room with an apparent leg injury with 5:41 to go in the fourth quarter. He was soon ruled out for the rest of the game.
After the game, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham told the media that James has left leg discomfort and they don’t want to speculate on the severity until he’s examined by team doctors on Thursday.
James told the media that he suffered a groin injury and “felt a spasm or strain.” He doesn’t think the groin injury is as bad as the one he suffered in 2018.
The four-time NBA MVP scored a game-high 30 points in 32 minutes before exiting. He’s averaging 24.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 6.9 assists on the season.
The Lakers are now 2-9 and have lost four games in a row. Only the 2-10 Houston Rockets have a worse record. Los Angeles is an awful team with James. Without him, it would be a total disaster.
Meanwhile, the Clippers improve to 9-0 vs the Lakers since Tyronn Lue took over as Clippers head coach. It’s become a one-sided rivalry, and a pretty stunning one when considering the history of each franchise.
