The ongoing Kyrie Irving saga added a new wrinkle on Thursday. LeBron James, a former teammate of Kyrie’s with the Cleveland Cavaliers, tweeted a new viewpoint of the situation.
James detailed that while he still doesn’t believe in sharing hurtful information, he thinks that Kyrie should be back on the basketball court.
LeBron tweeted his thoughts in a thread, “I told you guys that I don’t believe in sharing hurtful information. And I’ll continue to be that way but Kyrie apologized and he should be able to play. That’s what I think. It’s that simple. Help him learn-but he should be playing. What he’s being asked to do to get back on the floor I think is excessive IMO. He’s not the person that’s being portrayed of him.”
LeBron is not the first player to share his thoughts on Kyrie and his situation. Former NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire recently shared his thoughts on the situation. Deni Avdija, believed to be the only Jewish player currently in the NBA, recently chimed in too. Avdija didn’t think consequences were necessary but stressed that “there’s no room for words like that.”
A path forward is emerging for the Brooklyn Nets star after he met with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver earlier this week. With an endorsement from LeBron in his corner, Kyrie’s path to getting back on the court could be clearing.
