Even though he’s still in high school playing his senior season, Bronny James has emerged as one of the top players in his college basketball recruiting class and seems to have a promising basketball future ahead of him whenever he ultimately ends up in the NBA. But according to his father LeBron James, Bronny is talented enough to play in the NBA right now.
LeBron James is taking some time away from the court after suffering an ankle injury last month. And as he was at home watching some NBA games on his couch, he had quite a bold claim about the level of play he was watching, declaring that his high school soon was better than some of the players he was watching in the NBA.
“Man Bronny definitely better than some of these cats I’ve been watching on league pass today. [It is] lightweight hilarious,” James said in a tweet on Monday night.
It’s an absolutely wild claim, and the NBA world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
“Most people’s dads brag to like 1 person at a store or church or somewhere… Bronny’s dad gets tells 52 million people his son is better than NBA players,” Nick Angstadt of the NBA Locked On Network said in a tweet.
“This is how dad’s talk (privately),” Jason Whitlock said in a tweet.
“LeBron in his LaVar Ball era,” pickuphoop said in a tweet.
“What are you doing, King?” Ben Axelrod said in a tweet.
It’s certainly one way to put pressure on his son before he even finishes his high school career.
