There have been many controversial figures over the years in sports, especially when it comes to parents of athletes. One of the most heavily debated and scrutinized parents recently has been LaVar Ball, who many have felt was living vicariously through his children, professional basketball players Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball.
However, as controversial as LaVar Ball may be, people still aren’t in the habit of wishing misfortune on him. Which is why so many people were stunned when saddening news broke concerning him.
“LaVar Ball had to have his foot amputated due to a “serious medical issue”, per TMZ,” reported Legion Hoops on Twitter on Wednesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Oh, LaVar Ball losing his foot? Guess it’s hard to juggle both being a dad and walking in the footsteps of greatness. Still, I hear his other foot is signing contracts, so no worries there,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“this sucks. i bet you he still says he can beat bron with one foot. dude is different,” added someone else.
“This is what happens when you swerve bend that corner a little too hard,” one fan added, referencing a popular rap song from LiAngelo.
Hopefully, Ball can make a healthy recovery and remain in high spirits.
