The Kyrie Irving saga has a new twist. As the trickle-down effect of Irving’s suspension continues, a path forward is apparently being forged. Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Tuesday that Irving and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver met face-to-face on Tuesday morning.
“NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Kyrie Irving met this morning and the sides had a productive and understanding visit…” Charania tweeted. Charania continued, “…paving the way for the Nets and their suspended star to work through his steps on a potential path forward.”
This is certainly a twist in this saga and one that is shockingly in favor of Kyrie. Recent developments suggested there was a lot of work for Kyrie, the Nets, and the NBA to do after his antisemitic displays online. The issue has been commented on by a variety of people, including those close to him. He’s set to lose a lot of money and after what happened, it’s not difficult to understand why.
Evidently, there is a path apparently, though there’s no explicit distinction that “path forward” means that he will rejoin the Nets. Not yet, at least.
The sports world reacted to the news shortly after it broke. The reactions were…not so positive.
Silver 5 minutes later:
“The NBA will be taking a second look at the flat earth hypothesis. It’s possible we dismissed it too hastily.” https://t.co/QBilU08Acp
