Well, the NBA isn’t messing around with their bubble rules at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. Sacramento Kings center Richaun Holmes must quarantine for 10 days after crossing the campus line to pick up a food delivery.
In a statement on Twitter, Holmes wrote that he “briefly and accidentally crossed the NBA campus line” to pick up a food delivery. He added that he’s currently in quarantine and has eight days left.
Holmes averaged 12.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Kings before the league shut down in March.
As part of the healthy and safety regulations in the bubble, any player that leaves the campus must have a 10-day quarantine in their hotel room, and has to undergo a more invasive COVID-19 test (with a nasopharyngeal swab) than the usual test in the bubble.
Here’s what Richaun’s mom tweeted in response to Monday’s news:
Holmes wasn’t the only player forced to quarantine for 10 days for breaking bubble rules. Houston Rockets forward Bruno Caboclo violated the rules by “inadvertently” leaving his room during the initial quarantine period.
Additionally, the NBA released details on their latest round of COVID-19 testing. Since arriving in the Orlando bubble on July 7, only two of the 322 players have tested positive for COVID-19.
