The Golden State Warriors may be making a statement about the future of not only Jordan Poole but Draymond Green. Reports are the Warriors are signing Poole to a four-year $140 million extension.
Poole, who was drafted in 2019, become one of the best young point guards in the league. So clearly the Warriors would rather keep him than Green.
As many recall, Green and Poole got into an altercation a few weeks ago, which Green later apologized for, but a message is clearly being sent by the team that Poole may be more valuable than Green right now.
Some have said that Green got into it with Poole because he wants out and wants to head to LA and play with King James and the Lakers.
The Lakers could definitely use the help, however, it may just be the case that Green just lost his temper with the young player and got sick of his trash talk.
The Warriors also would have been foolish to let a young player like Poole get away from them and wanted to make sure he is locked in for a few years.
Last year, Poole averaged nearly 19 points per game and 44 percent from the field, so you understand why the Warriors are looking more toward their future than the past.
