If the Utah Jazz know how to read the room, they might want to reconsider their reported interest in Miles Bridges.
Yahoo Sports’ Joel Fischer reported Friday that the Jazz have talked to the Charlotte Hornets about a trade for the 6-foot-7 forward. Bridges, who will be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next offseason, would have to waive his no-trade clause to make a deal possible.
Bridges is averaging 20.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season, and there’s never been any question about his talent. But his career derailed in July 2022 after he was charged with domestic violence. He pleaded no contest last November and was given three years of probation. He missed the entire 2022-23 season, and finished serving a 30-game NBA suspension to start this season.
Even when Bridges returned to action there were issues. He was denied entry into Canada for a game against the Toronto Raptors in mid-December as the result of his legal issues.
Many Hornets fans were reluctant to welcome him back, and Jazz fans who saw Friday’s report are not happy about the prospect of him coming to Salt Lake City, no matter his skill set.
