For years, Jack Nicholson has been the most visible fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, sitting courtside at nearly every home game. But recent seasons have been different. Nicholson has been away from that seat for two seasons, last sitting courtside at Crypto.com Arena for the team’s home opener in the 2021-22 season.

But on Friday night, that changed.

Prior to Game 6 of the first-round series between the Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies, Nicholson walked onto the Crypto.com Arena floor and took his familiar courtside seat, next to the visitor’s bench.

NBA fans were ecstatic to see the three-time Academy Award winner back courtside watching his favorite team in the playoffs.

Nicholson has had those seats for more than 50 years, first acquiring them in 1970. But having recently turned 86, his appearances at the games (and in public in general) have become less frequent following the COVID-19 pandemic.

And while limited public exposure is a good thing for his health, there are exceptions to every rule. Seeing the Lakers going for a postseason series win is definitely a good time to use one of those exceptions.

It will be interesting to see if Nicholson’s appearances at Crypto.com Arena continue if the team goes deeper into the playoffs.
