The Grizzlies announced that Morant suffered a left ankle sprain and won’t return to the game.
Hopefully it’s nothing more than the average ankle sprain, but that certainly didn’t look good and Morant was in a ton of pain.
Morant had seven points and three assists in 13 minutes before exiting. He’s coming off a ridiculous performance against the San Antonio Spurs, in which he scored a career-high 44 points.
The Murray State product didn’t take long to show why he was the second overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, averaging 17.8 points and 7.3 assists in an NBA Rookie of the Year 2019-20 season. Along with being the future of the Grizzlies, he’s just an incredibly entertaining player to watch, and a significant injury would be an awful thing for the game of basketball.
UPDATE: The Grizzlies announced that it’s a Grade 2 ankle sprain for Morant, “with an expected recovery time of 3-5 weeks.”
