On Tuesday night, basketball fans and NBA Draft prognosticators were treated to a show when the two top prospects in the 2023 NBA Draft class faced off as Victor Wembanyama and his French club Metropolitans 92 took on Scoot Henderson and G League Ignite in an extremely entertaining game broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
Naturally, Wembanyama and Henderson got most of the attention during the broadcast – and deservedly so.
During the game, Wembanyama scored a game-high 37 points, shooting 11-of-20 from the field. The 7-foot-4 win drained seven three-pointers (7-of-11) and also blocked five shots. Meanwhile, Henderson had 28 points on an 11-of-21 shooting performance from the field. He went 4-of-6 from three-point range and dished out nine assists along with five rebounds.
But despite their dominance, one of Wembanyama’s teammates stole the show on Tuesday night with his unusual name: Steeve Ho You Fat.
Ho You Fat is a 34-year-old power forward who currently plays alongside Wembanyama for Metropolitans 92. Born in French Guiana back in 1988, Ho You Fat has bounced around to various professional teams throughout Europe during his basketball career.
And by playing with Wembanyama in Tuesday night’s game, he went absolutely viral on Twitter.
He was not the one NBA scouts were watching on Tuesday night, but based on the viral reaction, fans probably wish he was.
