The Miami Heat emerged with a 117-116 overtime win over the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday, but they only did so thanks to a remarkable series of events. First, the Sixers led by five points with just 1:47 left in regulation, but the Heat battled back to take a 107-106 lead with 6.9 seconds left thanks to a three-pointer from Tyler Herro (seen above) following a Jimmy Butler steal:

A few seconds later, Butler hit one of two free throws to extend the lead to two. But the Sixers tied it at the death thanks to Josh Richardson missing one free throw, then intentionally missing the second to have Ben Simmons grab the rebound and lay it in:
In overtime, the sides again battled back and forth. But with the game tied at 116 and 2.3 seconds left, Philadelphia’s Al Horford fouled Butler, who made one of two shots to put Miami ahead 117-116. Tobias Harris then missed a final shot for the Sixers, giving the Heat the win and making them 24-8 overall, 15-1 at home, and 4-0 on this latest homestand. It was an unconventional win, but they all count, and it may wind up being an important one for Miami.
