HOUSTON, TX – APRIL 04: Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame 2011 inductee Dennis Rodman looks on during halftime of the National Championship Game of the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament at Reliant Stadium on April 4, 2011 in Houston, Texas. The New York Knicks fired Derek Fisher today, and it appears a surprising candidate has thrown his name into the ring – none other than former Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls forward/crazy person Dennis Rodman.

Rodman has the same credentials as Fisher did, so on paper the move isn’t outlandish. He has no coaching experience and played an important role for a former Jackson team. Now, would the Knicks actually hire Rodman? Not in a million years. Between his visits to North Korea, public support for Donald Trump, and many other head-scratching decisions, I get the feeling players wouldn’t take him seriously as an NBA coach.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see him behind the Knicks bench, but this publicity stunt isn’t going to propel him to be a candidate for a job.
