That is a real headline in the year 2016. Matthew Dellavedova — backup point guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers — will be getting his own signature shoe, similar to what LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, and countless others have gotten.

Nick DePaula, creative director at Nice Kicks and sneaker expert at The Vertical, first reported the surprising news on Twitter:

The Delly 1 will hardly be the hottest selling sneaker of the summer. His deal is not with a big company like Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour, but with the Chinese brand Peak. It might not be one of the big three, but a shoe deal is a shoe deal, right?

Delly wouldn’t be the first NBA player to sign with a Chinese branded company though, so hold the laughs (sort of). Dwyane Wade signed with Li-Ning in 2012, after his contract with Jordan Brand expired. Golden State shooting extraordinaire Klay Thompson is signed to Anta.

So hey, Delly could be worse off. He could have no shoe deal at all. But you probably won’t see kids walking around with his sneakers on.
