Former Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin has a highlight reel that any NBA player would be proud of over the course of their career. But on Tuesday, he announced that there will not be any more highlights from him in the future.
Whether it be dunking over a Kia Optima or one of his peers in the NBA, Griffin was known by many NBA fans a must-watch television thanks to his supreme athletic ability when he was in his prime.
But on Tuesday, he decided to call it a career, officially retiring from the NBA. The news was first reported by him on his Instagram, later being shared by ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
His last on-court action came for the Boston Celtics a season ago, averaging just 4.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 41 games played.
These numbers were obviously a far cry from the numbers he was putting up as a member of a number of different teams like the Los Angeles Clippers and the Detroit Pistons.
In his prime, he earned six All-Star game appearances along with being named to five All-NBA teams and earning the Rookie of the Year award in the 2010-11 season.
His time on the “Lob City Clippers” in the early 2010s was truly must-see action on a night-in and night-out basis. Here is a highlight reel of some of his best plays as a member of those teams.
While it is fair to say that Griffin may have never been in the conversation as one of the best players in the NBA, he was always one of the most entertaining players to watch.
Naturally, many fans took to social media to congratulate Griffin on what was an excellent NBA career that officially came to an end on Tuesday.
