Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, is a massive fan of star Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James.
James broke the NBA’s all-time leading scorer mark on Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Afterward, Obama took to Twitter to send a clear message to the NBA’s new scoring king that had just supplanted the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabar.
“King James has been changing the game for 20 years, and has become a leader on and off the court. Congrats on making history,” Obama wrote.
The NBA world was quick to react to the congratulations from the former president:
“Deserving… I stayed through the game. Great moment for the record – a true king, King James. Congratulations. Bravo,” wrote one fan.
“Congratulations! We love you for being a mighty leader in more ways than one! Continue following your purpose and God will continue blessing you!! King James reigns!!” wrote another fan.
“Bro got a shoutout from Obama,” noted one fan before attaching the “fearful” face.
“A truly amazing human. So proud to claim his as our hometown kid,” wrote one Ohioan.
