Despite Kevin Durant requesting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets in June, the NBA superstar remains with the team even after a meeting with Nets owner Joe Tsai to reiterate his trade request earlier this month. Durant can’t seem to get out of Brooklyn no matter how hard he tries. But former N0. 1 overall pick Andrew Bogut has a hilarious suggestion to force a trade.
Bogut Tweeted that one “easy way” for Durant to force Tsai to trade him is to simply express his support for Hong Kong and Taiwan on Twitter.

“An easy way for KD to get out of @joetsai1999’s @BrooklynNets that no NBA analyst is discussing,” Bogut Tweeted. “A simple tweet: ‘Free Hong Kong, Free Taiwan.’ Gone the next day…..”
Bogut’s Tweet is in reference to the Tsai’s notorious pro-China stance. In addition to owning the Nets, Tsai is also a co-founder of Alibaba, which is a massive huge e-commerce hub in China. Tsai reportedly tried to get then-Houston Rockets owner Morey fired for Tweeting “Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong” back in 2019.
While Tweeting anti-China messaging might not be the easiest or best way to force a trade, Kanter is right that it would certainly displease Tsai.
