Over the past few days, Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons after he shared a link to a blatantly antisemitic film that included a fake quote from Adolf Hitler and initially defended the post and refused to delete it. Irving eventually gave a statement acknowledging the impact of his actions and donated $500,000, but Irving failed to actually apologize or denounce any statements made during the film. As a result, NBA commissioner Adam Silver absolutely blasted him.
In a statement shared by Adam Silver on Thursday morning, the NBA commissioner criticized Kyrie Irving for not offering an “unqualified apology and more specifically denounced the vile and harmful content contained in the film he chose to publicize” and explained that he will meet with Irving next week to discuss the actions.
It was quite a strong statement for the commissioner to make, although some believe that Silver took too long to release the statement. Either way, the NBA world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

This is a much stronger statement than the one the NBA initially released regarding the controversy last week which did not directly address the situation or mention Irving by name.
