Jon Jones is undoubtedly one of the greatest athletes to ever step foot in the UFC octagon. But outside of the cage, Jones has had his fair share of run-ins with the law, which continued stemming from a recent misdemeanor charge that was captured on video.
Fortunately, Jones’ most recent incident was not as serious as some of his past charges, which include multiple DUI charges, a hit-and-run charge in 2015, and a domestic violence charge.
But unfortunately, Jones has simply been unable to avoid controversy in his personal life. This most recent run-in with the law came from an incident in a February traffic from the Albuquerque Police Department, who questioned a woman about a car crash in the area.
During the traffic stop, she called a man who appeared to sound like Jones, who proceeded to threaten the police officers while seemingly denying his involvement in the incident. Video of the traffic stop has surfaced on Tuesday via TMZ’s social media account.
“My brothers, they kill people for way less,” the man stated in the video.
Ultimately, it was determined that Jones did have some fault in the incident, receiving a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
Jones recently announced his retirement from MMA, which was shared publicly by UFC President Dana White after this past weekend’s UFC Baku event in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Hopefully, at some point, Jones will begin to change things in his personal life and stay out of trouble with the law after his retirement from MMA. But given his track record, Jones will certainly have an uphill battle on his hands to do that.
