One of the biggest events of the year for the UFC took place earlier this month in Miami, Florida at UFC 287. The show featured a rare public appearance from former United States President Donald Trump. It now appears that this may be more of a normal occurrence at UFC events moving forward.
Trump was seen at UFC 287 sitting cage side alongside UFC President Dana White, musician Kid Rock, and former boxing superstar Mike Tyson.
He received a huge ovation from the crowd during the event, and Dana White recently described the reaction for Trump at the event as “insane”.
“It’s insane, you know, if you think about this, I’ve been doing this for, like, 23 years,” said White. “When you’re walking with Trump, it’s a whole ‘nother level, man. The entire place erupted. Everybody was going crazy, and it was fun.”
This massive reaction from the crowd towards Trump could lead to future promotional ventures from the UFC including the 45th President of the United States.
UFC lightweight contender Beneil Dariush discussed a recent meeting with Dana White where the two discussed UFC 287 and Trump’s massive ovation from the fans.
Dariush revealed in an interview with The Schmo on YouTube that White told him the promotion had “some stuff” planned the involved Donald Trump.
“We were talking about UFC 287 and I was like, ‘man I think that was your best show’,” said Dariush. “And he knows that I am a big fan of Trump. He was like ‘Hey let me show you some stuff we’re doing, some stuff with Trump’”.
Trump has notably shown support to a number of prominent UFC fighters in the past, including Jorge Masvidal who fought at UFC 287, and welterweight contender Colby Covington.
