The Miami Marlins beat the red-hot Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 in extra innings on Monday night in Miami, in a game that included the Marlins hitting home runs on back-to-back pitches from SuperReliever Josh Hader.
The game also featured an incredible play from a young fan in attendance.
In the top of the second inning, Milwaukee’s Hernan Perez hit a laser line drive foul into the seats over the third base dugout. On such a play, you immediately worry about a fan getting hit; there’s pretty much no time to react to 100+ mph line drives from close range. And particularly when there are children in attendance.
But one of those children was a 10-year-old with Gold Glove skills, and he caught the screamer right in front of his face. The best part may have been his interview with Fox Sports Florida:
“I didn’t have enough time to react. I just put my glove out and prayed.”
That’s exactly how any MLB pitcher feels on a line drive back to the mound as well.
