Cincinnati Reds left-hander Wade Miley no-hit the Cleveland Indians on Friday night at Progressive Field, for the 17th no-hitter in Reds history.
Miley walked only one and struck out eight. It was a brilliant performance by the veteran southpaw.
And for Cleveland, it marks the second time they’ve been no-hit over the last month. It was against a left-hander in the other game as well, when Chicago White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodón tossed a no-hitter to beat the Indians on April 14.
The Reds didn’t do much on offense themselves. It was a 0-0 game entering the ninth inning (Zach Plesac threw eight scoreless innings for Cleveland, allowing just three hits and no walks), but the Reds scored three runs in the top of the ninth, thanks to some rough defense from the Indians (this play was followed by a balk to score another run);
Miley’s no-hitter is already the fourth no-no in MLB this season (and five if you want to count Madison Bumgarner’s seven-inning version).
