Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been the best hitter in baseball this season, entering the MLB All-Star break with a .332 batting average (1st), .430 on-base percentage (1st), .658 slugging percentage (behind only Shohei Ohtani), and 1.089 OPS (1st). On Tuesday night, the Toronto Blue Jays’ phenom made his All-Star Game debut, and he showed why he has those ridiculous numbers on the season.
Vladito hit an incredible blast off Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Corbin Burnes (who’s allowed just three homers in 87 2/3 innings this season) that left Fox play-by-play man Joe Buck screaming (during an interview with mic’d up San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatís Jr.). The dinger was estimated at 468 feet, with an exit velocity of 110.2 mph. It landed in the left field concourse at Coors Field.
It’s the longest home run of Guerrero’s young MLB career (though not officially because it’s an exhibition game), and it’s the longest All-Star Game home run tracked by Statcast (going back to 2015).
And he just turned 22 years old in March. Insane.
Update: The American League won 5-2, and Guerrero was named the All-Star Game MVP.
