After being far and away the worst player in Triple-A last season (.163/.240/.255 in 264 PA), Tim Tebow is back at it with the New York Mets in Spring Training for the 2020 season. And Friday’s Mets game against the St. Louis Cardinals beautifully showed how the whole Tim Tebow baseball thing is going.
The 32-year-old went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts at the plate, but at least had a chance to secure a Mets win on defense in the ninth inning. With the Mets up 3-2, the Cardinals’ Max Schrock hit a routine flyball to left field with two outs and nobody on base. On 99.9% of such batted balls, the game is over. But Tebow was in left field for the Mets, and, well, the play turned into a mess.
It was ruled a double because of how far Tebow ended up from the baseball, but we’ll give that one an E-7 and LOL in the scorebook.
The Mets did at least still hang on to win 3-2.
