A good rule of thumb in today’s day and age is to be careful about what you put on social media. Anything you post could come back to bite you later, even years later.
That happened with Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson on Saturday.
The White Sox and Cleveland Guardians engaged in a brawl during Saturday’s game. And while the term “brawl” is often used liberally in baseball, this was legitimate.
While the brawl ended up happening in several parts, it started with Anderson and José Ramírez. After a quick exchange of words, fists started flying. Both threw punches at each other and it’s safe to say that Anderson got the worst of the exchange, as he staggered to the ground after catching a right-hand from Ramírez. And not long after that happened, a tweet that Anderson sent out in 2019 was dug up.
“Never let them knock you off your pivot,” Anderson tweeted four years ago.
And as one might expect, four years later, that tweet found a second life on Saturday night. Freezing Cold Takes, naturally brought it to everyone’s attention, even taking a screengrab for posterity, in the event that the original tweet is deleted.
Baseball fans also reacted to it.
As we’ve learned in recent years, there’s a tweet for just about everything.
