The Tenors made many enemies on Tuesday night when group member Remigio Pereira decided to use their appearance at the MLB All-Star Game to make a political statement.
While The Tenors were singing the Canadian anthem, Pereira flashed a sign which read “All Lives Matter,” and shockingly changed the lyrics to the Canadian anthem to promote the misguided message.
Here are the changes he made:
“We’re all brothers and sisters, all lives matter to the great.”
Here are the actual lyrics:
“With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!”
The Tenors must have checked their Twitter account, because the group sent out a message apologizing for the remarks and the anthem change. The group, who are Canadian themselves, admitted the incident was shameful and said the “lone wolf” Pereira used the platform “to serve his own political views”. They also said Pereira won’t be performing with the group until further notice.
It’s great to see The Tenors pull Pereira and apologize for the asinine comments and anthem changes, but the damage appears to be done. Pereira decided to use the group’s biggest performance to make an inept political statement and it’s going to cost the group dearly in the future – even if Pereira was acting as a “lone wolf.”
The Tenors couldn’t have predicted Pereira’s comments, but if they’re friends with him on Facebook, they’d see how he thinks.

What should have been one of the best nights of the group’s career will likely turn out to be the worst. Pereira’s selfishness is unforgivable. This is the reason many now know The Tenors. It will be hard to recover from that.
