Los Angeles Dodgers do-it-all superstar Shohei Ohtani is no stranger to making history as both a hitter and a pitcher. Now, he’s doing it at Major League Baseball’s biggest stage.
On Monday night, Ohtani made some history with the Dodgers, doing something that no player in the history of baseball has ever done in the postseason.
With Monday’s game going into extra innings, Ohtani stepped up to the plate seven different times throughout the contest, and he reached base every single time he stepped up to the plate.
As Talkin’ Baseball pointed out on social media, Ohtani is now the first player in history to reach base seven different times in a single postseason game.
Ohtani began the game with a leadoff double in the first inning before putting the Dodgers up 2-0 with a solo home run in the third inning. He followed that up with a home run in the seventh inning to tie the game 5-5, and then he was intentionally walked in the bottom of the ninth inning and twice in extra innings.
To top it off, the slugger is slated to be the starting pitcher for the Dodgers in Game 4 in Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night after making history as a hitter just hours before.
