New York Mets manager Buck Showalter was giddy in his pregame presser on Saturday, for a very unique reason.
Colombian pop superstar Shakira was set to be in attendance for the Mets’ game against the Seattle Mariners, and Showalter expressed how excited he was for her presence at Citi Field.
“Big night tonight. Shakira’s here. That’s what I’m hearing. She better come down.”
Showalter was very disappointed when the media told him that Shakira was only a guest and wouldn’t be throwing out the first pitch.
However, Showalter still got to meet Shakira after all!
Showalter and Mets infielder Eduardo Escobar took a photo with Shakira.
The SNY broadcast located Shakira in attendance during the game.
Things are going quite well for Showalter lately. His Mets entered play on Saturday night with an NL-best record of 22-12, and he got to meet Shakira.
