It has been an incredibly frustrating season for Atlanta Braves fans near the bottom of the NL East despite having some of the most talented players in all of baseball on their roster. And unfortunately, the nightmare of a season got even worse on Tuesday when star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was diagnosed with a potentially career-altering injury.

When Acuña has been on the field in his career, he has been one of the best players in all of baseball, which was proven by his MVP season in 2023.

Unfortunately, Acuña has had troubles staying on the field in recent years, suffering a torn ACL in 2024 which forced him to miss much of the season and a portion of the 2025 season.

Despite the fact that Acuña missed time to begin the 2025 season, he was still named to the 2025 All-Star Game, which shows just how great of a player Acuña truly is.

Unfortunately, Acuña may very well be forced to miss a significant amount of time moving forward after being pulled from Tuesday’s game with right Achilles tightness.

According to Braves beat writer Mark Bowman, Acuña will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury and whether there was any damage to the Achilles suffered.

But given how devastating any kind of Achilles injury typically is, fans of Acuña are understandably quite worried that the former MVP may have suffered a more severe Achilles injury with further evaluation.

Hopefully, this injury isn’t a long-term one for Acuña. But given how often players who are later diagnosed with ruptured torn Achilles injuries begin by being diagnosed with Achilles tightness, history suggests Acuña may be sidelined for quite some time depending on his diagnosis later this week.
