Ronald Acuña Jr. was an early bloomer, making his MLB debut just past the age of 20.

Is 20-year-old Luisangel Acuña ready to make the leap to MLB soon?

On Saturday, Luisangel, a prospect in the Texas Rangers’ organization, teed off on a game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Saturday’s matchup with the Chicago White Sox.

For fans who didn’t realize that the Atlanta superstar had a little brother in minor league baseball until Saturday, it’s time to take notice.

A middle infielder, Acuña is ranked the No. 7 prospect in the Rangers organization by MLB Pipeline. He’s also having a fine spring training so far, hitting. .357 in 14 at-bats.

However, he’s still projected to be a year or so away from being ready for MLB. His scouting report notes, “While he doesn’t project to match his sibling’s superstardom, Luisangel has the potential to become a quality big league regular. … He has a penchant for making hard contact and could develop average power if he adds more loft to his swing.”

Luisangel signed for a $425,000 bonus out of Venezuela in 2018, more than four times the bonus his big brother received a few years earlier.

Baseball fans were equally surprised and pleased to see another Acuña in action.
