Robinson Cano was traded from the San Diego Padres to the Atlanta Braves for cash Sunday. The former All-Star made his Braves debut on Monday night against the New York Mets, the team he parted with earlier in the season.
Despite parting ways with the Mets, Cano seems to still have an affinity for his old team as he was spotted wearing his glove during his latest stint in the Big Apple.
Although having to change his number due to Braves catcher William Contreras, Cano donned a number many Yankees fans will remember him in — 22.
Of course, there hasn’t been much time for Cano to get a new personalized glove, and he likely wasn’t sure what number he would stick with, but the glove certainly stood out.
It seems like Robby is on the last leg of his big league career after falling out of the Mets lineup at the beginning of the year before getting dealt to San Diego who also traded him — this time for cash. If he didn’t have those two PED suspensions on his record, Cano’s name would certainly have to be in consideration for Cooperstown.
Cano batted ninth for the Braves and finished his night going 2-for-3 at the plate, but the Mets ultimately won 4-1.
