Pirates pitcher Steven Brault releases album full of Broadway showtunes

Steven Brault is a man of many talents. The Pirates relief pitcher has an 11-12 record with a 4.88 ERA in 89 appearances over the past four seasons. Brault is also an amazing singer who majored in music performance in college and has sung the National Anthem at Pirates games.

Now that there’s currently no baseball, Brault has transitioned to his passion of music. A couple months ago, Brault sang with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and has just recently released an album of him singing 12 showtunes from some of Broadway’s most well-known musicals.

Titled A Pitch at Broadway, Brault covered a dozen songs from hit musicals such as Book of Mormon, Hamilton, and Phantom of the Opera. The album features Rent original cast member Adam Pascal while Brault’s teammate Josh Bell took part and got in on a couple songs. The songs on Brault’s album is as follows:

2) “Wait For Me” from Hadestown
3) “I Believe” from Book of Mormon
4) “You’ll Be Back” from Hamilton
5) “If I Could Tell Her” from Dear Evan Hansen
6) “Seasons of Love” from Rent
7) “Defying Gravity” from Wicked
8) “Unchained Melody” from Ghost The Musical
9) “Butter Outta Cream” from Catch Me if You Can
10) “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera
11) “It Only Takes a Taste” from Waitress
12) “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Carousel

Brault recorded his album back in November so while he was recording, he was probably assuming he would be playing when his album dropped. Nevertheless, you can pick up Brault’s album on iTunes and enjoy his singing ability while we wait for the baseball season to start again.
