Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos has developed a reputation for getting big hits exactly at the moment others are sad. The 2022 World Series has been a sad one for the slugger so far, and it’s his mom and wife who are having to handle the heavy hitting.
Phillies fans were disappointed Thursday night when the Houston Astros went up three games to two on the Phillies in the World Series, driving them to the brink of elimination. Emotions were definitely high and spilled over into the bathroom stalls. However, true to their reputation (earned or not), Phillies fans were also sharing some of those emotions in the stands with the families of the players.
While the Phillies have had some big moments in the series, it’s been a pretty disappointing postseason for Castellanos. He’s currently hitting .150 (3-for-20) with eight strikeouts in the World Series and made the final out in Game 5. Even though he’s been solid defensively, it’s safe to say that the hitting numbers Philly fans were expecting from him just haven’t been there when it matters most.
Unfortunately, it sounds like some of those fans took out their frustrations on Castellanos’s family after Game 5. And now, members of his family are swinging back.
Nick’s mom, Michelle, was not happy with her family being heckled Thursday night.
Castellanos’ wife, Jess, shared her disgust as well as fans vented their anger toward the players’ families instead of the Astros.
Need all those rough Phillies fans to direct their attention and negativity towards the other team and not us let’s to philllssssss

It’s a pretty gross indictment of those fans that they would bully or yell at the families of players. And while there are plenty of goof fans in Philly who don’t live up to the stereotype, it’s hard to deny that these ones are very much doing so. Grow up, guys.
