The baseball world suffered a tragic loss this week as legendary Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry passed away at the age of 84.
The Major League Baseball Player’s Association announced the news on Twitter, saying “Gaylord Perry’s legacy will live on forever. Rest in Peace to the Hall of Famer.”
Gaylord Perry played for nine different MLB teams throughout his playing career between 1962 and 1983 and was a five-time All-Star. He also won two Cy Young Awards throughout his career and led the entire MLB in wins three times.
Perry won the Cy Young Award with both the Cleveland Indians in 1972 and later the San Diego Padres in 1978, Perry made history, becoming the first player ever to win the coveted award in both the American League and the National League.
Perry was an absolute legend, and it is certainly a tragic loss for the entire Major League Baseball world. And plenty of people took to Twitter to share their condolences and mourn the loss of the incredible man and player.

Perry played for the San Diego Padres, the Kansas City Royals, the Texas Rangers, the Atlanta Braves, the Cleveland Indians, the San Francisco Giants, the Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees, and he will certainly be missed by fans of all eight clubs.
