For the second Friday night in the last three weeks, San Francisco Giants left fielder Mike Tauchman made a ridiculous dinger-robbing, game-saving catch.
On May 28, Tauchman robbed Albert Pujols of what would’ve been a walk-off home run for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants went on to win 8-5 in extra innings.
And on Friday night, Tauchman robbed Washington Nationals star Juan Soto of a game-tying homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Giants won 1-0.
So, without Tauchman robbing home runs, San Francisco may not have two wins that they do (they for sure wouldn’t have at least one of the wins; who knows how a tied game would’ve turned out vs the Nats).
Everything is coming up Giants this season. San Francisco has been the most surprising team in baseball, with a 39-23 record. They have a two-game lead in an NL West division that many evaluators thought had the two best teams in baseball: the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. But the Giants just keep winning, thanks to an all-around team effort and plays like Tauchman is making.
