After a four-hour delay, Saturday’s Mets vs. Nationals game was suspended and will be part of a split doubleheader on Sunday.

Anyone attending Saturday’s game between the New York Mets and Washington Nationals didn’t see a lot of baseball. They might have spent a lot of time at Nationals Park.

Rain halted the game in the top of the third inning, with Washington leading 1-0. That triggered a rain delay of roughly four hours.

And if the wait was frustrating for the fans in attendance, the decision was even worse.

“Due to inclement weather, today’s game has been suspended. This game will be made up tomorrow as part of a split admission doubleheader,” the video board in Washington read. “Game 1, the continuation of today’s game, will begin at 12:35 p.m. Game 2 will begin at 4:35 p.m. All tickets and parking passes from today’s game will be honored for the 12:35 p.m. game only.”

The fans who stayed at the park for four hours were not happy. The booing in the stadium was audible when the announcement was made.

And those fans were not alone. The SNY broadcast team was highly critical of the decision.

Other baseball fans similarly blasted MLB and the Nationals for the way everything was handled.

When the game resumes on Sunday, Washington will have a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. New York will have runners on second and third with only one out.
